A few weeks ago I was interviewed by John Maeda, Head of Computational Design and Inclusion at Automattic, along with Caroline Moore and Kjell Reigstad, two designers at Automattic who helped improve and release a new version of the Independent Publisher theme for WordPress.com: Independent Publisher 2.
If you are looking for support for the Independent Publisher theme, please make sure that you know which version of the theme you're using.
After over a year and nearly 50,000 downloads on WordPress.org, the Automattic team announced that the Independent Publisher theme is now available to the millions of sites hosted on WordPress.com.
There are two recommended ways of making theme customizations: 1) Create and use a Child Theme (see also: Using a Child Theme to Customize Independent Publisher) or 2) Install the Jetpack plugin (Plugins -> Add New, then search for "Jetpack") and then activate the "Custom CSS" module.
Independent Publisher v1.4, and subsequently v1.4.1, has been released. There are several bug fixes and several new features, two of which I'd like to highlight below.
